Preambles: The Journey to Self-discovery
The journey to self-discovery is a series of articles first published on my Instagram platform. The thought to put this into writing started during family devotion when my children started asking how one can discover himself. It dawned on me that many are living purposelessly in this world without really knowing who they are. I hope the series of articles will help you and me to discover who we are and enlighten us on how to actualize God’s plans for our lives.
The Journey To Self-discovery Part 12:
Most of the time, the qualities you think will disqualify you from being competent enough to do God’s work are the qualities God knows qualifies you to do His work. God will leave the strong and the mighty and choose the weak things of this world. He will see the wise & the nobles and use the foolish things of this world to confound the wise. So stop thinking or saying that you are not qualified for that assignment. What God needs is your availability & readiness. God just needs a vessel to work through.
When & if God decided to use you, it will be so glaring that it is God who is at work in you. How can you explain this? God saw those who were eloquent & decided to use a stammerer like Moses to lead the Israelites out of Egypt. Why did He not choose Aaron who was more eloquent? Why would God see all the trained & mighty soldiers in Israel & decided to use David, a small boy who had no war experience? Why would God name a childless man, Abraham, which means father of many nations when there were many fathers with many children who seemed to be better qualified for such a name? Why would God give Joseph a prisoner and someone who is a foreigner the interpretation of Pharaoh’s dream when there were many nobles and wise men in Egypt who were also natural citizens? How could a slave & a foreigner became a Prime Minister in a country where he was not a citizen? He got a position that he did not apply for & he got a wife that he did not propose to. He got a retinue of servants without paying a dime. He did not go through the ranks & files in the government’s office for promotion, yet he got the highest position in the land.
God will always use the ridiculous to do the miraculous. It sounds insane for a childless man to call himself fathers of many nations. Her wife had passed the age of child bearing. So, where were the many nations coming from? At a point in time, Abraham thought that Eliazer his servant would be his heir. Sarah suggested her maid to him, but God eventually showed up.
Keep the dream alive and God will show up for you also in Jesus’ name!
