The journey to self-discovery is a series of articles first published on my Instagram platform. The thought to put this into writing started during family devotion when my children started asking how one can discover himself. It dawned on me that many are living purposelessly in this world without really knowing who they are. I hope the series of articles will help you and me to discover who we are and enlighten us on how to actualize God’s plans for our lives.

The Journey To Self-discovery Part 8:

When you diligently serve your gifts, you get elevated automatically. Joseph took up his new role diligently not minding that he was serving as a slave. Potiphar saw some qualities in Joseph and made him the head of all the slaves and put everything under his care. He never lobbied for the position. When he landed in the prison also, his gifts made a way for him and he was made the head of the prisoners. Even the ultimate assignment he got, he did not lobby for it. King Pharaoh heard about his gifts and he made him the Prime Minister when he interpreted the king’s dream.
Jesus Christ who is our perfect example never sought a position. In the process of fulfilling his assignment here on earth, he was sought after and at a time, they planned to make him the king. Jesus was so humble that it was difficult for those who came to arrest him to recognize him while planning to crucify him. Because He fulfilled His mission here on earth, God highly exalted Him and gave Him a name that is above every other name. Jesus never tries to take up the position of God, he humbled himself.

I don’t know if my reasoning is to the extreme, but I feel it is Satanic in nature for people to be lobbying for positions particularly in the household of God. Satan was lobbying to take the position of God. Pride always come before a fall. He wanted to ascend his throne above God’s throne but he was cast down to the earth and eventually, he and his cohorts will end up in the bottomless pit. Satan also tempted Adam & Eve with position by saying they will be like God. He used the same strategy for Jesus by promising Him the glory of this whole world but he failed. Jesus humbled himself and he has been highly exalted. I hope we will all learn some valuable lessons from this.

When you discover your purpose and you start serving your gifts to the world, titles and positions will become meaningless to you. A purposeful life will be all that matters on your journey to self-discovery.
